About the event:
Winter Photography is such a wonderfully enchanting genre! We love the variety on Camversation and this is a perfect example of that. Eddie Hyde is an experienced presenter and fabulous photographer. I'm excited to be able to bring this brand new talk to our community!
Message from Mark: It is a real pleasure to welcome Eddie to Camversation. He is a community-favourite - having attended several of our in-person meet ups and this talk is perfect for anyone who struggles with motivation during the colder months. Eddie does a wonderful job of reminding us that winter isn't just about snow - it’s about atmosphere, light, and mood. Whether you are planning a trip to the mountains or just want to find new potential in your local morning mist, this session will be full of ideas!
The Presentation:
Winter is often seen as a time to hibernate, but for the landscape photographer, it offers gifts that the summer simply cannot match. The sun hangs lower in the sky, providing soft, flattering light throughout the day, and the stripping back of nature reveals the true bones of the landscape.
In this talk, Eddie Hyde explores why he finds the winter months produce his most satisfying landscape images. He begins the journey locally in Surrey - a location not typically thought of as a winter destination. Here, snow is rare; instead, Eddie shows us how to work with the occasional hoar frost and the more common conditions of mist and fog to create atmospheric, successful images without traveling far.
He then moves progressively further afield in search of more traditional snowy environments. He will also share his advice on gear and clothing; essential knowledge for keeping yourself comfortable when the conditions become physically challenging.
