About the event:

About this series:

23rd June 2024 Session 1: Outdoor Flower and Garden Photography

Molly will look at the best ways to photograph plants and flowers in their natural environment, and also talk about capturing garden landscapes and people in the garden. The session will end with a live ‘how-to’ edit.

30th June 2024 Session 2: Photographing flowers and plants indoors

Molly will discuss the best methods for capturing flowers and plants in the comfort of your own home, and discuss various creative ideas for getting up close and personal with your flowers. The session will end with a live ‘how-to’ edit.

7th July 2024 Session 3: Editing your flower and plant photography, from start to finish

Molly will show walkthroughs of her editing process and workflow using both Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and also explain how to use overlays and textures with your images. The session should still be useful if you use different editing software.

21st July 2024 Session 4: Doing things differently/breaking the rules

Molly will consider why we all need to do things differently from time to time, to keep our photography fresh and not get stuck in a rut. She will consider different approaches to the same shot with both indoor and outdoor photography.

28th July 2024 Session 5: Entering competitions and taking your photography to the next level

Molly will talk about the finer points of garden photography editing (which will mostly apply to ALL genres) and what judges look for (and what to avoid). She will do a live edit to show the preparation she does for a ‘competition’ image and which competitions are worthwhile entering (and which to avoid!).

About Molly:

Molly is an award-winning photographer who specialises in flower and plant photography. She is a member of the Professional Garden Photographers Association (PGPA), the Guild of Photographers (with whom she won the ‘Flora and Plants’ category in 2021 and the Insects category in 2022) and the Societies of Photographers. She has also won awards in the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition, Close Up Photographer of the Year and in 2021 won the ‘Plants’ category of the RHS Photographic Competition.

She is passionate about photographing flowers, plants and gardens at all times of the year and believes that encouraging others to visit gardens as a result of seeing her photos and writing can only be a good thing, and in particular can make a positive difference to mental health.

Her first book, Creative Flower and Plant Photography, is published with the Crowood Press and available form all good bookshops and Amazon.

Molly lives in East Kent with Ross and her two boys and is Head of Music at a school in Ramsgate, Kent. She loves gardening and walking in gardens and the countryside.

THIS TALK WILL BE RECORDED AND WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FOUR WEEKS AFTER THE EVENT.

One ticket (£25) will give you access to all workshops
