About the event:
Landscape photography brings its own unique set of challenges, but stepping into a forest can feel even more complex. It is very easy to wander into the woods and feel overwhelmed by the visual chaos, quite literally finding that we cannot see the wood for the trees.
In this beautiful presentation, Eddie Hyde walks us through his approach to woodland and treescape photography. He begins with simple, accessible techniques to help find order in the forest, before gradually introducing more subtle and sophisticated ideas.
Ultimately, this talk is about showing the natural artistry of our surroundings and capturing exactly how it feels to be amongst the trees. Eddie explores the idea of translating Shinrin Yoku, the Japanese concept of forest bathing, into our photography. This allows us to capture the profound calm and tranquillity that woodland environments provide. This is a subject very close to Eddie's heart, as it was his local woodland photography that earned him his Fellowship with the Royal Photographic Society.
Please note: This talk will be recorded and made available for you to watch on-demand for FOUR weeks after the event.
About Eddie: Eddie is a highly accomplished photographer and a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS). Based in Surrey, he is a familiar face in the UK photography community and a key photographer for the National Trust at Polesden Lacey. His beautiful landscape work has been recognised in major competitions, including Landscape Photographer of the Year and the Siena International Photography Awards.
From Mark:
I am so pleased to welcome Eddie back for another evening with us. He is a wonderful friend of Camversation and a true community-favourite. Woodland photography can be notoriously tricky to master, but Eddie has such a calming, thoughtful approach to finding compositions in the chaos. The fact that his own woodland images earned him his FRPS tells you everything you need to know about the quality of his work. This is going to be a fantastic and relaxing evening.
