About the event:
We love the variety on Camversation and this is a perfect example of that. Eddie Hyde is an experienced presenter and fabulous photographer. I'm excited to be able to bring this new talk to our community!
Making Sense of the landscape
About the talk, from Eddie:
This talk is my personal take on how to meet the challenges of landscape photography.
Ansell Adams is quoted as saying that “Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer, and often the supreme disappointment.”
This quote is extremely apposite. We can travel to a destination that holds the potential to deliver great images but if the lighting and weather are not “right” then we do not have any images, or do we?
This talk explores what makes a satisfying and artistic landscape image. How do we find compositions, what are the best lighting conditions, and do we have any options for when the conditions are not “ideal”.
The talk also discusses the challenge of finding compositions in less obvious places but where we stand more chance of getting an image that has not already been photographed a thousand times: an image that is truly our own.
The main themes are:
Composition (How Much of what you can see should you include in an image)
Lighting and weather and options for variations (Right Place at the Right Time)
