About the event:

Making Sense of the Landscape with Eddie Hyde FRPS

We absolutely love the variety on Camversation, and we are thrilled to welcome back experienced presenter and highly acclaimed photographer Eddie Hyde for a brand new presentation. Eddie is a cherished member of our community, and his ability to break down complex photographic concepts into actionable, practical steps is second to none.

About the Presentation

The legendary Ansel Adams famously described landscape photography as the supreme test of the photographer, and often the supreme disappointment.

It is a sentiment most of us know all too well. We travel to iconic destinations with the potential to deliver unforgettable portfolios, but if the lighting and weather do not behave, we often walk away feeling empty-handed.

But should we?

In this presentation, Eddie shares his personal approaches for meeting the chaotic challenges of the great outdoors. He explores what truly makes a satisfying, artistic landscape photograph and offers a reliable toolkit for those days when conditions are far from ideal.

Rather than chasing the same iconic viewpoints that have already been captured a thousand times, Eddie will challenge you to look closer, slow down, and find intimate compositions in less obvious places. This session is designed to help you create work that is uniquely yours.

Key Themes We Will Explore

  • The Art of Composition: How to decide exactly how much of a peripheral view to include or exclude to find order in a busy scene.

  • Embracing the Elements: Practical strategies for shifting your approach when the lighting and weather do not match your original plan.

  • Finding the Unique View: Moving away from standard record shots and learning to discover hidden works of art right under your nose.
