BRAND NEW: Distilling The Essence Of Architecture with Angie McMonigal
We are so pleased to welcome Angie McMonigal to Camversation for a brand new, single-session presentation. We had the opportunity to meet Angie this year, in our meet up in Chicago and it was a real pleasure to meet her in person, then now welcome her to the community!
Angie is a fine art and commercial architecture photographer whose work has been featured in National Geographic, the New York Times, and Architectural Digest. She is the perfect guide to help us move beyond "flat" building photos and explore more dynamic, artistic interpretations.
What makes Angie's work so special? Her background isn't in art, but in microscience (molecular biology and virology). This scientific & detailed perspective is one of the elements to her micro focus & how she finds the iconic, abstract elements hiding in plain sight. We can testify to this after seeing her photograph locations in real life (in Chicago!) as she often pointed out things we had missed!
This is a super opportunity to hear more about her process.
In this session, Angie will discuss:
A Meditative Process: How she brings a sense of meditative calm to her process, allowing her to find the details that other photographers walk right past.
The Micro View: A look at her scientific-inspired approach to finding and distilling the essence of a building.
Stronger Compositions: Her thoughts on practical compositional techniques that make architectural images more powerful.
Telling a Story: Her ideas on how to move beyond just documenting a building and create a detailed, abstract, or interpretive piece of art.
Seeing the Unseen: Her approach to finding the unexpectedly iconic elements that other photographers miss.
