About the event:

Six Sunday Sessions will see you oohing and aaaahing as Photoshop falls into place. Photoshop remains the industry standard for Photographers, Graphic Designers and Illustrators to create and edit images and artwork. It’s a huge application, overwhelming with its vast array of tools, panels and choices. So if you’d like to get the most from this application join us over six Sunday evenings in June and July, or just dip in to a couple and see what you can learn.

Celia Henderson LRPS is running a series of recorded workshops for Camversation on the basics (and quite a bit more) on how she uses Photoshop and will start right back at the beginning. She’ll provide some sample images for you to practice the techniques (or of course you can use your own) and at the end of each session will set some practice tasks for you to have a go at to embed your learning.

And if you like these basic workshops – get ready to sign up for the intermediate and advanced sessions coming in the Autumn.

Session 1:

11 June 2023 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Celia will start with a general Introduction to the Adobe Creative Cloud. We’ll open some JPEG images directly into Photoshop in order to dive right in to the Photoshop workspace. Next, a guided tour of the Tools, context toolbar, how to control all those panels and the information available on the status bar followed by a quick look at the essential preferences you need to know about. And now you are ready to try out some Keyboard Shortcuts, pan and zoom around the screen.

And just what does working non-destructively really mean – in this part we’ll look at why you don’t want to rely too much on the Undo commands, and although the History Panel and History brush are essential to know about, planning to work non-destructively really is best practice.

First place to start is getting to grips with working with Layers – they really are dead straightforward – a quick look at why you should use them, how to set up the layer panel options to suit the way you work, together with all the basics for duplicating, creating, moving, deleting, re-ordering, naming and locking layers and it all becomes clear.

And finally, we’ll open an image, carry out some small edits, and go through basic saving andexporting different file formats, saving to your device or the cloud with a quick check to make sure the preferences you set are working correctly.

These talks will be recorded and made available for two weeks after the event.
