Mastering the NEW Snapseed 4 with Mark Evans

If you have opened Snapseed lately and thought "where has everything gone?", you are not alone. The app has just had its biggest change in years. Everything that made it special is still in there, along with some genuinely useful new tools, but a lot of it has moved and a few things have new names. I have spent a long time relearning it, and I wanted to put together a proper walkthrough so you do not have to.

This is a live, three-part course for anyone who wants to move beyond quick filters and use Snapseed as a real photographic tool. Whether you are opening it for the first time or you have used it for years and the update has thrown you, we go from a clean base edit through to your own finished style, one clear step at a time.

When

Three Saturday mornings, a fortnight apart: 30 January, 13 February and 27 February 2027, at 11am GMT. Each session runs around 60 minutes with time for your questions.

The gap between sessions is deliberate. It gives you a fortnight to try things on your own photographs before we move on. Every session is recorded. If a Saturday morning does not suit you, or you are joining us from another part of the world, you will not miss a thing!

What we will cover

Part One, 30 January. Foundations and a strong base edit.

Finding your way around the redesigned app, and getting any photograph to a clean, well exposed, well toned starting point.

Part Two, 13 February. Taking control.

Editing one part of a picture without touching the rest and working so that nothing is ever permanent.

Part Three, 27 February. Repair, people and a creative finish.

Removing distractions, straightening buildings and horizons and a creative finish that suits the picture - including double/multiple exposures.

Your guides

There are three guides, one for each session and they are properly detailed rather than a handout. Each has its own contents page, explains every tool in plain terms with worked examples, defines the vocabulary as it comes up and ends with a glossary and a one page cheat sheet. They are written so that a complete beginner can follow every step.

Images to practise on

I will also give you a set of images to work on, so you always have something to play with, even if you do not have a photograph of your own to hand. Some are taken on my phone and some on my cameras, because Snapseed is not only for phone snaps. It handles files from a proper camera just as well and I think that surprises a lot of people.

Booking

The three-session series is £18, which includes the live sessions and one month to watch the recordings.

The course is booked as a complete series rather than session by session. Booking after we have started still gets you every session, plus the recordings of anything we have already run.

A note from me

I set up Camversation to bring people together around their photography have been doing that successfully now since 2020! I can hardly believe it!

I am a qualified teacher (QTS) with almost twenty years of experience across both schools and universities, as a classroom teacher, a school leader and a senior lecturer in Primary Education. I mention it because it shapes how these sessions are built: clear steps, nothing skipped and time taken over the parts that matter.

Snapseed has been my own favourite editing app for years. It started life at Nik Software and it has always treated phone photography seriously rather than as a place for quick effects. I made this course because the recent update left a lot of us feeling a little lost and I did not want people to give up on an app that is, underneath the new look, more capable than it has ever been.

A few practical notes

You will need Snapseed installed, which is free, with no subscriptions, adverts or watermarks. I will be demonstrating on an iPhone. Almost everything is identical on Android.
