THIS PRODUCT PROVIDES ACCESS TO THE RECORDED SERIES FOR TWELVE MONTHS - YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD.
Most of us edit the same way every time. We open the file, reach for the same three sliders in the same order, and end up with a picture that is fine. It is the picture we always make, rather than the one that particular photograph was asking for.
The trouble is that a landscape does not want what a portrait wants. A street frame shot late in the day needs different thinking from a flower on a kitchen table, and neither of them is edited like a long exposure. Most courses teach you the software. Very few teach you what to do differently once you know where the sliders are.
That is what this series is for. Twenty sessions, recorded live with our community, each one on a different kind of photograph and the editing decisions it actually asks for. Joe works on screen in front of you, so you see the whole decision and not just the finished result.
The twenty sessions:
- Mono and black and white
- Landscapes
- Street
- Nature
- Portraits
- Flowers
- Abstracts and ICM
- Long exposures
- Night time and evening
- Macro and close up
- Events and occasions
- Sports and action
- Using other apps alongside Lightroom
- Still life
- Water
- What judges look for
- Geometry
- Storytelling
- Light and contrast
- Depth and perspective
What is included:
Twenty recorded sessions, yours to watch as often as you like for twelve months from purchase.
Free AI-generated notes for each session, with the key points written up so you have something to refer back to without scrubbing through a recording.
Who it is for:
Beginners through to experienced photographers. Joe pitches each session so that someone new can follow it, and there is enough in the detail to keep a confident editor interested. You will get the most from it if you use Lightroom, although a good deal of the thinking carries across to whatever you edit in.
You do not need to work through it in order. Session sixteen, on what judges look for, stands on its own and is worth the visit if you enter club competitions.
Why we love this one:
Joe has been presenting for our community since 2021, and this is the series I have been asked about most. It was one of our best-attended series, the room stayed with it right through to June, and the feedback while it ran was the best we have had for anything of this length.
What makes it work is that Joe does not tidy up his process for the camera. He tries something, decides he does not like it, and says so. That is the part you cannot get from a written tutorial, and it is the part that changes how you edit.
Also from Joe:
If you want the software itself covered from the ground up, Joe's other long series is still on the site and the two sit together well. This one is about genres and decisions. That one is about Lightroom itself, module by module.
