About the event:

Nigel French joins to give a series of 4 60-70 minute sessions, each focussing on areas which people in the community have expressed an interest in improving their knowledge of! I'm so very pleased that Nigel is part of the Camversation community and has been a supporter now for a long time. He has expertise in Photography, design and typology - having several books published on these subjects.

No Pixels Harmed - how to work non-destructively in Photoshop

Working non-destructively in Photoshop is an essential practice for any photographer looking to maintain flexibility and control over their work. The reason to adopt this approach is that it allows for adjustments to be made at any stage of the editing process without permanently altering the original image data. This means that you can experiment freely with different effects, colors, and compositions without the fear of losing your original work.

When you use non-destructive techniques, such as adjustment layers, smart objects, and layer masks, you create a workflow that is both efficient and reversible. For instance, adjustment layers enable you to apply color corrections or tonal adjustments while retaining the ability to fine-tune or completely remove those changes later on. This is particularly beneficial when working on complex projects where multiple revisions are common.

Another significant advantage of working non-destructively is the ability to maintain a clean and organized workflow. By keeping your original images intact and using layers and masks, you can easily track changes and revert back to earlier versions if necessary. This organization not only enhances your efficiency but also makes it easier to collaborate with others, as you can share your work without the risk of altering the foundational elements.

These talks will be recorded and made available for FOUR weeks after the event.

Example images will be available to support this workshop.
