We are so excited to announce that one of our most-loved and requested speakers, the wonderful Stan Farrow, is returning to Camversation with a brand new, two-part workshop!
Stan is a true stalwart of the Camversation community, a talented artist, and a great friend. It's an honour to have him back to share his latest techniques, which have been highly requested by many within the community.
In this special 2-part series Stan will guide you through his workflow, blending in-camera techniques with editing, and even showing you how to build your own physical props. It’s a unique chance to learn both the digital and the practical, hands-on side of creative art.

Part 1: Multi-Exposure Architectural Abstracts
Forget boring building photos. Stan will show you how to take in-camera double or triple exposures of architecture and transform them into beautiful, semi-abstract works of art.
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
Process your base images with creative inversions and colour changes (hue/saturation).
Build rich layers in Photoshop.
Experiment with blending modes to find creative combinations.
Add depth and story with texture layers, text, and even maps.
Use layer masks to perfectly control your final piece.
Part 2: Physical Craft: Creating Your Own Backgrounds
Ever wonder how to get those perfect, bespoke backgrounds for your still-life or flat-lay photos? This is the "how-to" guide for you. Through a detailed presentation of his process (using photos and slides of each step), Stan will show you how to make them!
This is a practical guide to creating your own beautiful, textured backdrops. You will learn:
What materials to use as a base (plywood, MDF, cardboard).
The secret ingredients to add interest (muslin, paper, texture paste, crackle paste, printed text, etc.).
How to assemble your creations.
Techniques for lighting and photographing your subjects on your new backdrops.
How to process the final image with pro touches like vignettes
